Aj keď je celková tvorba Alexandry Hrehovej pomerne pestrá po tematickej a technickej stránke, aktuálne sa vo svojich maľbách zaoberá otázkami spojenými so ženským rodom a osobnou identitou. Pracuje prevažne s figuratívnou maľbou, kde sú pravidelne prítomné folklórne prvky a motívy, prostredníctvom ktorých tak prepája minulé so súčasným. Kľúčovým symbolom objavujúcim sa v jej dielach sú masky, ktorými zahaľuje tváre žien, ale aj tu svoju, pričom necháva priestor pre divákov predstaviť si tak samých seba pod maskami. Využívaním masiek poukazuje na generačné traumy žien a otvára tak dialóg k tejto problematike, ktorá má hlboké korene aj v našich slovenských zvykoch a tradíciách. Vo svojich prácach tak vychádza nielen z kolektívnej pamäte, ale aj z osobnej snažiac sa nájsť vlastné zahojenie.

Although Alexandra Hrehová’s overall work is quite diverse in terms of themes and techniques, her current paintings deal with issues related to femininity and personal identity. She works mainly with figurative painting, where folkloric elements and motifs are regularly present, bridging the past and the present. A key symbol appearing in her works are masks, which she uses to cover the faces of women, including her own, while leaving space for viewers to imagine themselves behind the masks. By using masks, she points to the generational traumas of women and thus opens a dialogue on this issue, which has deep roots in our Slovak customs and traditions. In her works, she draws not only from collective memory, but also from personal experiences, seeking her own healing.
