Samuel Kollárik sa vo svojej práci v posledných rokoch zaoberá možnosťami zobrazovania archetypálnej maskulinity. Je to preňho proces rovnako ako maľba samotná. Špecificky ho zaujíma pôvod mužských vzorcov, ich prejavy a miesto v súčasnej maľbe. Jedným z jeho charakteristických prístupov je istá forma karikatúry alebo sarkazmu, ktorá hrá mediačnú rolu v prípade komunikácie s divákom ale aj rolu významovú v pokusoch o poľudštenie čŕt antihrdinu. Je prítomný infantilizmus, romantizujúce tendencie, práca s gýčom, zámerná anatomická deformácia, narácia a istý druh literatúry v obraze. Cieľom je modularita zjavných symbolických nedostatkov v obraze, ktorý by mal byť ideálne chápaný ako asociačné pole.

In his work, Samuel Kollárik has been dealing with the possibilities of depicting archetypal masculinity for the last few years. It is a process for him as much as the painting itself. Specifically, he is interested in the origin of male models, their manifestations and their place in contemporary painting. One of his characteristic approaches is a certain form of caricature or sarcasm, which plays a mediator’s role in the case of communication with the viewer, but also a significant role in attempts to humanize features of an antihero. Infantilism, romanticizing tendencies, work with kitsch, deliberate anatomical deformation, narration and a certain kind of literature in painting are present. The aim is to modularize apparent symbolic errors in an image that should ideally be understood as an association field.
