CURATORIAL TEXT FOR THE EXHIBITION
Samuel Kollárik (*1992) výstavu mediálne nekomplikuje. Predstavuje figurálne maľby, ktorým dominujú mužské postavy. Obrazy sú to, aj bez komiksových bublín, veľmi ukecané a majú s komiksmi a animákmi veľa spoločného. Deformované, až karikované mužské postavy, hory mäsa a svalov vrátane všadeprítomných symbolov esteticky ťažia z tejto vetvy popkultúry. Sledovanie nefunkčných tiel navodzuje zmes pocitov, od pobavenia po hororové zhnusenie. K zodpovedajúcemu čítaniu nájdeme kľúč pri bezcieľnom sledovaní sociálnych sietí. Ale zároveň s veľmi nahlas pustenou televíziou. Nerušené čítanie je nemožné.
Autor sa výstavou čelne obracia k priestoru, kde sa stalo normou prenasledovanie politických odporcov. Pod rúškom karikatúry predstavuje nepekný portrét spoločnosti. Pretože pravdu už píšu hlavne tí, čo hlasnejšie kričia. Práve teraz tí, čo chcú späť istoty stredoveku. Ale s hoaxnetom. V ich uvažovaní je čierna iba valérom bielej. Populizmus je predovšetkým obchod so strachom. V poslednej dobe sa zdá, že obchodníci našli zlatú žilu.
Výstava neponúka jedno jasné čítanie. Neukazuje vinníkov ani obete (nie sú skarikovaní muži na obrazoch vlastne oboje?). Ide o vyrovnávanie sa so svetom, ktorý sa vôbec nemení k lepšiemu, a nakoniec sa v ňom jednoducho rozpustíme. Toxická maskulinita neobratne schováva krehkosť a fragmenty duše. Ranení incelovia tiež plačú. Ale iba sami nad sebou. Dojatí nespravodlivosťou celého sveta. Ženy im okrem sĺz odopreli všetko. Samuel tancuje s ghoulmi na párty, kde sa oslavuje koniec sveta. Mŕtvi možno ešte nevstávajú z hrobov, ale živí už majú predplatený lístok do pekla.

Samuel Kollárik (*1992) does not complicate the exhibition, media-wise. He presents figurative paintings dominated by male figures. Even without the comic bubbles, the images are very chatty and have a lot in common with comics and cartoons. Deformed, even caricatured male figures, mountains of flesh and muscles, including omnipresent symbols, benefit aesthetically from this branch of pop culture. Watching non-functional bodies brings a mixture of feelings, from amusement to horror-filled disgust. A key to reading this lies in aimless social media watching. But together with a television turned on very loudly. Undisturbed reading is impossible.
The author is turning face to face to a space where persecution of political opponents has become a norm. Under a guise of caricature, he presents an ugly portrait of society. Because the truth is now written mainly by those who shout the loudest. Right now, it is by those who want the medieval certainties back. But with hoaxnet. In their thinking, black is only another value of white. Populism is primarily a trade with fear. Lately, traders seem to have found the holy grail.
The exhibition does not offer one clear reading. It does not point to culprits or victims (aren’t the caricatured men in the pictures actually both?). It’s about coping with a world that isn’t changing for the better, and eventually we just dissolve into it. Toxic masculinity clumsily hides fragility and fragments of the soul. Wounded incels are also crying. But only over themselves. Touched by the injustice of the whole world. The women denied them everything except tears. Samuel dances with ghouls at a party celebrating the end of the world. The dead may not rise from their graves yet, but the living already have a prepaid ticket to hell.

LISTEN TO A MUSIC SET BY VACHO
Počas výstavy Samuela Kollárika môžeš počuť hudobný set, ktorý je vytvorený zo skladieb vybraných DJ-jom VACHO.
VACHO — vizuálny dizajnér a digitálny zberateľ Spotify playlistov. K DJ-ingu sa dostal cez firemné parties v Lighting Beetle*, po ktorých nasledovalo prvé vystúpenie v Bohéme v januári 2020. Dnes je spolu so SickSoul Groove stálicou krásne vyzdobenej bratislavskej housovej džungle – SKLENIK. Nedávno s kamošmi Oosh a Carl založil zoskupenie Hudobná výchova, ktoré organizovalo spolu s Secret Disco Club akciu Discomfort v klube Šafko. V sete môžete očakávať všetko od house music, tech-house až po bassovejšie kúsky z britskej scény.
During Samuel Kollárik‘s exhibition, you can hear a music set created out of songs selected of a DJ VACHO.
VACHO — a visual designer and digital collector of Spotify playlists. He got into DJ-ing through company parties at Lighting Beetle*, followed by his first performance at Bohéma in January 2020. Today, together with SickSoul Groove, he is a stable part of the beautifully decorated Bratislava house jungle – SKLENIK (transl. GREEN HOUSE). Recently, together with his friends Oosh and Carl, he co-founded the group Hudobná výchova (transl. Music Education), which, together with the Secret Disco Club, organized an event Discomfort at Šafko club. In his set, you can expect everything from house music, tech-house to more bassy pieces from the British scene.
